Callum Newman On If He Would Like To Appear In AEW More: “Yeah, As A New Japan Guy”
Newman is asked if he wants to appear in AEW more.
On the lead-up to AEW Dynasty, Will Ospreay brought United Empire to All Elite Wrestling to help fight off the Death Riders.
Among those Ospreay brought with him were Francesco Akira, HENARE, and newly crowned IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman.
Newman was asked about his experience at AEW while on Midnight Kingdom. He was asked if he wanted to appear for the company more and said he would, but as a New Japan Pro-Wrestling talent.
“I mean, it’s American TV. It was a good experience. I got to experience a different world, and it’s the first time that the V4 Championship has been shown on live American TV. So, yeah, you’re welcome New Japan.” Newman was asked if he wants to appear in AEW more, and he replied, “Yeah, as a New Japan guy. I wanna be the New Japan guy going over there and just showing that this style is better than theirs, and just proving that New Japan wrestlers are way better than AEW wrestlers.”
After that comment, the interviewer joked about how every foreigner says that, and then they end up leaving NJPW. Newman laughed and said he’s aware.
“Yeah, I know,” Newman laughed. “I’m fully aware. I’m fully aware. Everybody says it and then they go, and then no one trusts the next foreigner that comes up. I’m sorry. Yeah, I’m fully aware.”
Newman’s first defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship is taking place at Wrestling Dontaku on May 4th. He’ll be defending against Shingo Takagi.
