At WWE Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny would face off with Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight. During the course of the match, several would interfere in the singles bout, including Carlito, who would get an incredible reaction from the crowd. This return would kickstart another run for the former United States Champion in WWE.

While speaking to D-Von Dudley in a new interview, Carlito discussed his return at WWE Backlash 2023.

“It was fun. It was crazy, yeah. It’s cool things. People wanted to see this for, geez, probably at least over a decade. They always wanted to see me back. So it was cool to do it in Puerto Rico. I think even the office didn’t think I would get this reaction. Shirt came off quick. I said, I don’t want to be on world television. I’m going to get it on TV real quick. I’ll show my kids one day if I have to.”

D-Von would then ask Carlito how quick the turnaround was for him to appear on the show, with the former Judgment Day member noting that it was Bad Bunny and Damian Priest’s idea.

“You’d have to ask Bad Bunny because I’m sure (it was) as big as Bad Bunny, Damian Priest’s really idea to come back, for me to come back to this.”

Last month, Carlito would announce that WWE would not be re-signing him following his contract expiring. You can read more about that process here.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Carlito spoke about how scary it is to see a Bron Breakker spear up close, you can read more about that here.
