Carmella Is Not Sure Why The Term "Diva" Is Considered Negative

Carmella explains from her perspective.

Former SmackDown Live Women's Champion Carmella's reign as the top dog of SmackDown's women's division ended last month at SummerSlam when she lost the title in a Triple-Threat match involving Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Carmella received her obligatory rematch for the title and was defeated by the champion Charlotte Flair.

Since then, Carmella has reluctantly joined forces with former WWE United States Champion R-Truth and they will be teaming up for season two of the Mixed Match Challenge tournament. Along with that, Carmella is looking to one day get back into the SmackDown Women's title picture but next on the calender for her is WWE's first-ever all-women's PPV 'Evolution' on October 28th. While being interviewed by 'The Examiner', Carmella was asked who she would like to face at 'Evolution' and stated that her choice would've been WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus but Trish is already set for a match with Alexa Bliss at the event.

?Unfortunately, Alexa Bliss is wrestling my dream opponent ? Trish Stratus,? said Carmella. ?Trish Stratus would be amazing, but honestly, I'm just so happy to be part of this monumental event. I am having the time of my life and it?s a perfect time to be a woman in the WWE. We are making history left and right.?

Prior to Carmella defending the SmackDown Live Women's Championship at SummerSlam, there was a segment that aired on the blue-brand exclusive show involving "The Staten Island Princess", Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Flair stated that Carmella was a "diva" who was competing in a "women's era" and Carmella reacted by saying that she was proud to be a "diva".

The term "diva" has been excluded from the WWE vocabulary due to the negative connotation tied to it but Carmella does not understand why calling a women's wrestler a "diva" is negative.

?I?m not sure why the term diva is considered negative,? she said. ?They were only allowed a few minutes for matches on television and didn?t have the TV time like the men did but they made the most of it and it wasn?t their fault. They paved the way for us to be where we are at now. So I don?t think it?s a bad thing to be called a diva. I love doing all the hair and make up and I?m proud of the way I dress. I talk the talk and walk the walk.?

On a related note, the SmackDown Live Women's Title picture is hot right now as Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have been exchanging words and fists and all the built-up frustration between the former best-friends will culminate when they battle over the SmackDown Live Women's Championship at the 'Hell In A Cell' PPV.
