Love her or hate her, Mella is money.
Carmella spoke to The Gorilla Position at WWE SummerSlam media day and addressed the criticism for onlookers about her lack of wrestling ability compared to the likes of Becky Lynch and Charlotte.
"It motivates me more than ever. Everyone's going to doubt me, everyone's going to hate me, everyone on social media 'hates me' for the wrong reasons. Not because I'm good at what I do at being a bad guy, but because I can't wrestle. You know what, you don't like me. That's the whole point. That's what my goal is -- to get people to genuinely hate me. I don't think many people can say that. I go out there and people genuinely hate me. I will take it."
Leading up to SummerSlam, Charlotte was one of those critics of Carmella, saying on an episode of SmackDown that Carmella is "a Diva living in a Women's era."
At SummerSlam, Carmella lost her SmackDown Women's Championship to Charlotte in a triple threat match that also involved Lynch. Carmella wasn't involved in the pinfall.
