Carmella Says She's Come A Long Way

Carmella went from last picked to Champion.

Carmella is approaching four years in her professional wrestling career. Before coming to WWE, she was a cheerleader and dancer for some professional sports teams. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, she said how her new career is different than her previous occupation.

“I was a part of the team for three years with the Patriots and one year with the Lakers, and I had a great time. Both of those organizations are at the top of their industry as the best sports teams ever. Obviously I’m used to being part of the best, but it was time for me to step out onto my own," said Carmella. "I was the very last draft pick in the draft in 2016, but now I am the Smackdown women’s champ. And I beat Charlotte Flair twice,” she added.

Carmella will be defending her Smackdown Women's Championship against Asuka at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage and a recapping podcast for the event.
