Carmelo Hayes Addresses Not Being On WrestleMania And Staying Patient, ‘Until They Give You Ball, How Do They Know If You Can Score?’
Carmelo Hayes looked to be on track to be on WrestleMania 42, but he lost the WWE United States Title to Sami Zayn on March 27.
He failed to regain the title on the April 3 episode of WWE SmackDown. Now, despite fan support and Zayn addressing Carmelo not being on the card, Melo is without a spot at WrestleMania.
Speaking to Chad Ochocino & Shannon Sharpe on Nightcap, Melo was asked how he handles not being on the card and staying patient in waiting for his opportunity.
“I feel like I stay ready, and knowing that I’m talented enough that if they give the ball, it’s guaranteed. That’s what my mentality has always been. Success is not earned, it’s given. I feel like that’s a lot in WWE. Anybody, really. Until they give you the ball, how do you know who can score? Until they put you on the field, how do they know that you can make a play? That’s really what it comes down to with what we do, waiting for the ball or to put you in,” he said.
Zayn will defend the WWE US Title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42.
