Cedric Alexander notes that even he thought he would unite with The Hurt Syndicate after his WWE exit.
In February of last year, Alexander would be released from WWE, bringing an end to his run in the company that began with the Cruiserweight Classic. Upon his exit, fans speculated that he would end up in AEW with The Hurt Syndicate, but landed in TNA instead.
While speaking to the Battleground podcast in a new interview, Cedric Alexander spoke about the expectation that he would unite with The Hurt Syndicate in AEW.
“You know, I’m going to be brutally honest here for a second. When I got released and everything, even I thought I was going to go end up with the Hurt Syndicate and everything like that. But then the opportunity for TNA popped up, and I was like, man, this kind of seems too good to pass up. You know, I would love to… I’ve always kind of wanted to get TNA when the X-Division Championship was what I was thinking. I was like, you know what? Let’s pop in TNA and just see where we are, because for me… Going to AEW was a thought process because, you know, that’s kind of the thought, like, oh, I go back with the boys. But at the same time, too, I was like, man, does that mean I’m just doing the same old same old? Am I trying to be different or am I trying to, like, do something for me? TNA felt something for me, and it felt like that was where I needed to be. It’s where I felt appreciated. It’s where I felt I could do the most good.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Alexander questioned if Tribalist wrestling fans even love wrestling. You can read more about that here.
