Cesaro believes he can tear it up in the ring with Cain Velasquez.
The former tag team champion spoke to The Sun in the middle of WWE's latest European tour and was asked about his thoughts on Cain Velasquez. Cesaro admitted that it was a bit of a tough pill to swallow seeing Velasquez getting a WWE Championship opportunity against Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in his WWE debut. Although Cesaro insists he will be ready for whatever opportunity he can get from WWE, he gave Velasquez credit for being able to step in immediately into a WWE ring after very little experience.
“Cain came in and wasn’t that successful. I don’t know what he’s doing now but I’m sitting here talking to you. But it’s a marathon – that’s how I look at it and what I tell myself. Of course, I wish I’d had those opportunities but when the opportunity comes for me I’ll be ready. And I’ll do better than Cain Velasquez did. To be fair, that was just something like his third match, and he was very impressive with the other two," Cesaro said.
However, it Velasquez was to get more ring time in WWE and is able to improve, Cesaro believes he and the former UFC champion could have a tremendous match.
“WWE is such a strong learning curve. Even with NXT, which is maybe more like the independents, that’s still a learning curve to adjust to this style. Given time, if I step in the ring with Cain I think that we could really tear it up," Cesaro said.
