VETERAN JOURNALISTS AND AUTHORS LAUNCH FIRST OF ITS KIND PROFESSIONAL WRESLTING FICTION PROJECT

July 11, 2022

Critically acclaimed novelist Chad Dundas and award-winning longtime combat sports journalist Jonathan Snowden on Monday announced a new joint venture: THE TERRITORIES, a sprawling shared- world fiction universe set in the glitzy and gaudy world of professional wrestling during the 1980s.

THE TERRITORIES will feature an ongoing series of connected short stories, novels, novellas and more from a rotating group of writers. The stories will span multiple genres and styles, but will all take place in the same world, comprised of 16 fictional regional wrestling promotions and starring an ensemble cast of colorful figures. THE TERRITORIES will be simultaneously recognizable to wrestling fans while offering readers a bold new vision of the wrestling world.

Volume One will be published on Aug. 1, 2022 and features 10 short stories by a group of established writers as well as a novella written by Chad Dundas. Dundas’ work THE BIG HOSS follows a struggling rookie wrestler being mentored by an aging star in decline as the two travel the backroads of rural Montana, performing in cramped high school gyms and dusty rodeo arenas, one hoping to catch his first big break, the other hoping for his last.

Volume one contributors include award-winning authors Nick Mamatas, Carrie Laben and Jason Ridler, noted sportswriter and podcaster Ben Fowlkes, New York Times Magazine contributor Dan Brooks, FOX television series “The Great North” writer Kevin Seccia, acclaimed young adult novelist Richard Fifield and more.

THE TERRITORIES will be available through the independent Hybrid Shoot publishing imprint, with Dundas and Snowden acting as series editors. Hardcover and ebook versions are available for pre-order at:
