Chad Gable Wins Gauntlet Match, Set To Challenge Penta For Intercontinental Title At WWE SummerSlam
Chad Gable is headed to SummerSlam.
The second hour of this week’s WWE Raw featured a Gauntlet Match to crown a number one contender to the Intercontinental Champion. Chad Gable, Joe Hendry, Dominik Mysterio, Rusev, Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, Ethan Page took part in the bout.
Hendry and Mysterio started things off. ‘Dirty Dom’ eliminated Hendry from the match in short order after hitting him with a 619 and a top rope splash.

Je’Von Evans entered the match next. JD McDonagh was eventually lured away from ringside by Danhausen, allowing the ‘Young OG’ to pin Mysterio after taking him out with his signature cutter.

Dragon Lee was out next. After a few minutes of high octane action, Evans eliminated Lee from the match with an inside cradle pin.

Rusev was up next, attacking Evans from behind after he shook Dragon Lee’s hand. Rusev dominated the majority of the match until he (eventually) made Evans pass out with his Accolade submission.

Chad Gable was the next man up. He was also dominated for much of the match before stealing the win by after trapping Rusev in a pin for a quick three count. Rusev ended up applying The Accolade to Gable after his loss, allowing Ethan Page to have the upper hand as the entered the match.
In the end, Gable was able to overcome the odds. In the finishing sequence, Page brought Gable up to the second rope for a big move. Gable ended up reversing it to lock Page in an Ankle Lock. Moments later, Page submitted to award Gable the victory.

With the win, Gable will officially challenge Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.
