Chantal discusses an upcoming appearance on AEW programming in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
All Elite Wrestling is headed to Canada for the first time ever in October 2022 with Dynamite being filmed outside the United States for the first time in the nearly four-year existence of AEW.
As part of this upcoming show, independent Canadian wrestler Chantal will be participating in the AEW Dark taping. She was handpicked for this opportunity by QT Marshall after he saw her work in the Lutte Wrestling Academie contest in which the winners received a $5,000 scholarship and the opportunity to train at the Nightmare Factory.
Speaking with Alliance Pro Wrestling in a special interview, Chantal spoke about the moment she learned she was going to be a lot of the opportunity for a Dark match despite not winning the competition and noted that she had been trying to get to the United States of America and expand her career prior to this opportunity.
“It just kind of really happened. It couldn't have happened at a better time just because I was already planning on expanding, like going to work and wrestle in the United States come 2023. So I think that this will help a lot with exposure especially in promotions down there. So I'm hoping to get like as many bookings in the States as in Canada."
As for whether or not she's nervous, Chantal since that in moments like these, the best thing to do is to be present because all you can really do is get out there and do it since you'll never fully “feel ready”
"We are our worst critics. Like, I always tell myself, I need more training because I was trained very old school and the independent scene is a bit different from the old school wrestling style. So I kind of just — not that I kind of just winged it so far, but I feel like personally, I'm not where I want to be right now. That opportunity, makes me nervous, but also happy because it is exposure, and whatever happens, happens from it, of course. But that's the only thing is that you never feel fully ready, but you just have to do it.”
She also noted that if she can have her choice of who to wrestle, she would like to wrestle the current interim Women's World Champion, Toni Storm.
