Charlotte Flair Admits She Attached Her Emotions To Winning, Had To Let It Go
Charlotte Flair has done a whole lot of winning throughout her career, but for over a year, she has been out of the world title picture and has been teaming with Alexa Bliss.
Appearing on the Power Hour with rugby player Ilona Maher, Charlotte was how she battles having to lose when she wants to win and if she gets angry or pushes to win.
“50/50. A lot of people that I work with haven’t played sports. I also feel, being a woman in the industry, sometimes if I do have an opinion, ‘Oh, she’s difficult.’ No, I’m not difficult. I have an opinion. I’ve done this for a long time. I deserve to have it. At the same time, you kind of have to let down your ego as an athlete and go, ‘We are here to tell stories and elicit emotion.’ If that’s what’s best for the story, you have to eat it. What I’ve learned over the last year, and I was guilty of this, all I could attach my emotions to was winning, winning, winning when, ‘Wait, this still isn’t real. Your losses are making you win as a businesswoman.’ For me, as an athlete, having to understand that has been such growth,” she said.
Charlotte hasn’t held a singles title since losing the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39.
Elsewhere during the interview, Charlotte commented on who she enjoys sharing the ring with. You can find her full comments here.
