Charlotte Flair Explains Why She Respects Asuka And Is Willing To Team With Her

Charlotte Flair returned at WWE TLC as the surprise partner for Asuka against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.

The duo of Charlotte and Asuka won the Women's Tag Team Titles on Sunday, though some were confused as to why they would form a team after years of mostly being on opposite sides of the ring.

Appearing on Raw Talk following Monday's Raw, Charlotte shed insight as to why she is willing to team with one of her greatest rivals.

"I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to say this but I really believe, when I beat Asuka when she had the [unbeaten] streak, she really cemented my legacy. She put me on the map that night. Asuka had nothing to prove, I had everything to prove. Knowing what it takes to stay on top and be on top, and see her consistently be on top, that's why I respect her. I know what that takes and no matter what, Asuka is still there, she's shoulder to shoulder with me. I don't think I play well with others, but if I'm going to be a tag team partner, I may as well be with a woman that I respect. Who I know is going to be a warrior," she said.

Charlotte and Asuka would successfully defeat Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans on WWE Raw.

They are set to defend the Women's Tag Team Titles on the Christmas episode of SmackDown, though their opponents have yet to be announced.
