Charlotte Flair Recalls Unwritten Rules Coming To WWE, ‘You Could Not Hit One Move Someone Else Does’

Charlotte Flair was one of the leaders of the women’s evolution, helping establish a new era on the WWE main roster thanks to her run in NXT.

Thanks to the work of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone in AEW), Bayley, and others, women on the main roster are looked at more as equals to their male counterparts.

Speaking to Sam Roberts, Charlotte explained how things have changed over the past decade.

“I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but you had to change in a specific place. There were unwritten rules. We hadn’t main evented WrestleMania or a pay-per-view or Raw. You can’t compare. Now, it’s just casual. It’s not that I want people to walk on eggshells now, it’s just different. I remember when I came up, you could not hit one move that someone else does, male or female, or wear someone’s color. You couldn’t wear red because of the Bellas or even Eva Marie at that time. You couldn’t have studs because of Paige. It’s just different. You’re just hoping, ‘I hope I can wear this,'” she said.

Charlotte is set to team with Alexa Bliss to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 42.
