Charlotte Flair Was A Little Jealous At Ric Flair's Last Match, Wanted To Wrestle With Her Dad

Charlotte Flair looks back on Ric Flair's last match.

On July 31, Ric Flair, 73, competed in his first match since 2011 at the Ric Flair's Last Match event, where he teamed up with Andrade El Idolo, his son-in-law, to face Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Flair and Andrade ultimately won the match, and "The Nature Boy" later revealed that he passed out twice due to dehydration during the bout. WWE star Charlotte Flair was reportedly backstage at the show in order to support her father, so she watched the match unfold.

Speaking on The TODAY Show, Charlotte looked back on Ric Flair's return to the ring. She noted that it was a long day, and she also admitted that she felt a little jealous because Andrade got to team up with her father. Charlotte also stated that she wishes her late brother, Reid, could have seen the march. She then joked that Ric could have simply managed Andrade, but everything worked out.

"That was a long day. Honestly, I was a little jealous because I was like, ‘Oh, I want to be a part of this'. I’ve shared the ring with my dad, but not in that capacity. But then again my husband having the opportunity to be beside him, at the same time, I’m like, ‘Man, I wish my little brother could see this.’ Then my husband is a third-generation wrestler. It was awesome. Picture-perfect. But I mean my dad could have maybe just managed my husband, but it worked out [laughs]," Charlotte said.

When asked whether she and Andrade are competitive as wrestlers for different companies, Charlotte emphasized that they are competitive in the gym. She also stated that they help each other in some ways, as they both focus on different styles of wrestling. Flair noted that, given this contrast, they play off of each other well.

"We’re competitive in the gym. But I help him with certain things, and he helps me with certain things, so it’s like the best of both worlds. He’s a luchador from Mexico, so the wrestling style is much different, where I’m all about performance and showmanship and the glamour of it. So we play off of each other really well," Charlotte said.
