Chelsea Green admits that she felt like a placeholder champion at one point, with a little nugget of doubt in her mind.

Green is the current WWE Women’s Champion, but upon winning the title, she was initially the interim champion while Rhea Ripley recovered from a knee injury that has forced her out of action since WWE Clash In Italy. At WWE Crown Jewel later today, Green will face off with WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan for the Crown Jewel Championship, with Morgan labelling Green as a placeholder champion in the build up.

While speaking to Corey Graves on WWE’s Countdown show for Crown Jewel, Chelsea Green noted that she felt like a placeholder champion at one point.

“I hate to say this, but I also felt that way. You know, like there was this little nugget of doubt in my mind.
I’m thinking of myself as the underdog, and if Liv beats the underdog, what did she do? She just beat the underdog. But if I beat Liv, I beat the greatest champion of all time. I need to prove that I am the permanent champion. I need to prove it to myself.”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Nikki Bella spoke about Chelsea dressing up as her at a WWE live event and for their recent WWE Women’s Championship bout. You can read more about that here.
