Chris Bey: Leon Slater Is The Best X-Division Guy In TNA, He’s Going To Carry The Company Into The Future

Chris Bey has high praise for Leon Slater.

Slater established himself as one of the most successful young stars in TNA history at Slammiversary, as he was able to end Moose’s 266 day reign as X-Division Champion.

Since then, the ‘Youngest In Charge’ has hit the ground running, defending the belt against Cedric Alexander and Jason Hotch on the July 31 edition of TNA iMPACT.

Speaking with Muscle Man Malcolm for a new interview, Chris Bey, a former X-Division Champion in his own right, praised Slater, saying that he’s the best X-Division guy in TNA.

“He’s amazing. If you look back, there was a six-man tag where me, him, and Ace teamed against The Rascalz. I wore a durag out to the ring because I wanted to honor Leon Slater and put the kid over. I’ve always thought he was great and he’s so respectful. People talk about that, that’s a real thing. I remember his first couple loops, he’d be hanging back in the locker room cleaning stuff up and making sure that it was clean. I’m looking at him like, ‘Bro, you don’t have to do that.’ But the fact that he took the initiative and he wanted to do it, I was like, man this kid’s going to go far. To see what he’s becoming and the way he’s transformed his body — he’s the X-Division champion now. He embodies what the X-Division is all about. If anyone would have that championship right now, it should be him, he’s the best X-Division guy that we have. He represents the current generation and the future generation. The Swanton 450 is like the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, a lot of us have ever seen. He’s a special guy and he’s going to carry this company into the future.”
