Chris Jericho: AEW Uses Legends In The Right Spot, Not To Get Beat Up By The Flavor Of The Month

Diamond Dallas Page is set to make his in-ring return at AEW Bash at the Beach when he teams with QT Marshall & Dustin Rhodes to take on MJF, The Blade & The Butcher. Page has not wrestled since appearing in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32.

Page is just the latest legend to be used by AEW as they've also brought in the Rock N Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson), Bret Hart, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and others to do various spots in the promotion.

Speaking to Jim Varsellone of the Miami Herald, AEW World Champion Chris Jericho discussed AEW's use of legends.

"We use the legends in the right moments. Arn Anderson is with us, you see Tully Blanchard and guys that have popped in and out. Using DDP is very smart because he has a real close relationship with the Rhodes family. Cody has always been his young apprentice. So, when we have him come in, it means something. We don't have him come in just to have him beat up by whoever the flavor of the month is, which is something that other companies do. 'Let's bring a legend in and embarrass them' We bring a legend in and use him in the right spot. He is 63, but he is in great shape and cardio-wise, he can outlast people 20-30 years younger than him. I think people will be excited for the match because he's a big star. But we're not hitching the cart to him. It's cool to see that if you use someone in the right casting, it always works out well," he said.

Page has appeared multiple times on AEW television as a representative of the Nightmare Family to help further Cody's feuds
