Chris Jericho Details Getting The Styles Clash Unbanned

AJ Styles has made quite the splash in 19 month WWE run, and used a bevy of finishing moves along the way.

One of the reasons for that was Styles' popular Styles Clash maneuver was out of favor with WWE. Due to several outside WWE taking the move wrong, it'd resulted in injuries. According to Chris Jericho on The Other Guys Podcast, he helped get the Styles Clash off the WWE blacklist.

?I knew it was a great move -- an easy move to take -- and I knew it was something that could help AJ and give him extra colors to paint his pictures with. I  started using it during matches just so Vince could see it, so I figured if he saw it and didn?t want me doing it he would know," said Jericho.

Knowing that Vince McMahon doesn't have the time to watch much content outside of WWE, Jericho said that he didn't use the name of the move, but still asked permission to take it.

?I went to Vince and I said, ?Did you see that move AJ did?? -- Never using the words ?Styles Clash? because I knew Vince might not even know what the move is -- but that name is taboo. I said he should use it as a finish. He said, ?Yes absolutely, use it as a finish.? So I was able to kind of indirectly get the move unbanned by just doing it, not asking for permission, and never using the name ?Styles Clash? while taking about it with Vince,? said Jericho
