Chris Jericho Explains Why The World Title Match Went On Last At AEW All Out

Chris Jericho talks match placement.

A certain part of the wrestling fanbase questioned why Chris Jericho vs. Hangman Page for the AEW World Title was the main event at All Out over the ladder match between the Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) and the Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr & Fenix). The reasoning behind putting the ladder match on last was that it would be the best match and no one could follow it.

Chris Jericho took exception to that reasoning on Talk is Jericho.

"There have been some debates, 'well, you should have put the ladder match on last because you can't follow it.' I disagree. The World Title match is the World Title match. That's why you put guys in there that can have a World Title match," explained Jericho. "What is a true World Title match? It should have story, intensity, a viciousness, and it should be completely between two men fighting for the biggest prize in the sport. If you can't put that on last, then you shouldn't be a champion and you shouldn't have a World Title. I don't care if you have a double blow-up your ball bag, dynamite stick up the ass match before it. How do you follow the amazing spectacle of a ladder match? Start with an armdrag and then another one. That was specifically for the critics."

Jericho would defeat Page in the main event to become the first-ever AEW World Champion. Upon winning the title, Jericho would lose/have the title stolen while visiting a Longhorn Steakhouse. Fortunately, a worldwide investigation led to the belt being reclaimed within 24 hours.
