Chris Jericho: I Don't Think You Understand What Wrestling Is All About Until You Hit 40

At the age of 49, some consider Chris Jericho to be better than ever given what he's accomplished with AEW. While he's slowed down in the ring, his character work has received rave reviews and he's a big reason why AEW is in its current position.

Speaking to Matt Hardy on Talk is Jericho, Jericho stated that he doesn't think a wrestler truly realizes what wrestling is all about until they are past their physical prime.

WWE Anticipated To File Motion To Compel Arbitration, Deadline Dates Proposed

"I don't think you really understand what wrestling is really about until you get to 40. Then you realize it's all about character and connecting with the audience. How do I connect with the audience? These guys, before the show starts, they'll be sitting in the ring doing double shooting star presses to pop each other. 'What are you guys doing? There's nobody here.' 'We're just fooling around.' I hate everyone.....QT Marshall, Brandon Cutler, these guys are doing shooting star presses and double moonsaults. No offense, they don't look like that type of guy. All these guys are so athletic, but it's the connection with the audience and character development that we've understood that really takes you to the next level," said Jericho

Along with his current character work, Jericho has been praised throughout his career for re-inventing himself and keeping himself fresh. While Jericho and Hardy were friends during the podcast, they are enemies on television with Hardy confronting Jericho on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
