Chris Jericho Says He Pitched The Idea Of Hosting Blood & Guts In His Backyard During The Pandemic

Chris Jericho says that he once considered hosting Blood & Guts in his backyard at the start of the pandemic.

AEW wanted to host Blood & Guts last year between The Elite and the Inner Circle end because of the global pandemic and had to wait for an entire year before hosting the match between Inner Circle and the new faction, The Pinnacle.

The pandemic forced a lot of innovation and ingenuity in the world of wrestling and now, Chris Jericho is saying that he considered hosting Blood & Guts in his own backyard in the style of an island Deathmatch.

Speaking on the most recent episode of his Talk is Jericho podcast, Jericho, who was interviewing 2.0 at the time, reveals that he pitched the idea of using his backyard as the battleground for matches.

“We're actually sitting in my backyard right now," Chris Jericho said. "When the lockdown started, at one point we were still thinking about maybe doing Blood & Guts last year and there was nowhere to do it. I was like, ‘Why don't we do it in my backyard and do kind of one of those Inoki/Saito Island Deathmatch things?’ There's plenty of room here. That's the thing, there's a different backyard version here than what you would have done back in the day.”

Of course, that did not happen. However, they would use Daily's place as a location to host the Stadium Stampede, a different kind of cinematic match.

Elsewhere on the same podcast, Chris Jericho proclaims that AEW has signed Matt Lee and Jeff Parker of 2.0. Learn more here.
