Chris Sabin Discusses Challenging For ROH World Title, Wanting To Defend It Against Jay Lethal

The ROH World Title will come to IMPACT Wrestling at Hard To Kill when Jonathan Gresham defends the belt against Chris Sabin.

Sabin is a former IMPACT World Champion and was owed an ROH World Title shot in 2018.

Speaking on the Generation Of Wrestling Podcast, Sabin discussed the upcoming bout.

"It's extremely cool and a huge opportunity. The list of people who have held the IMPACT World Champion and Ring of Honor World Championship is very small, I think it's three or four guys. It would be quite a notch in my belt for my career and a history making moment. It's a really big deal," he said.

Only Austin Aries, Eddie Edwards, and Samoa Joe have held both the ROH and IMPACT World Titles.

Sabin and Gresham have shared the ring multiple times throughout the years, but not since 2018 when they were part of a Four Corner Survival tag tea bout.

When asked about working against Gresham, Sabin replied, "I'm super excited. He's such a sound technical wrestler. I've been in the ring with him a little bit, it was multi-man matches, never a singles match, but he's a guy that is hard to build a strategy against because he's such a good wrestler and knows so many counter holds. He's an intelligent wrestler overall. He's the kind of guy where you just have to go in there and be very fluid. That's how good he is, he can do almost anything."

Finally, Sabin was asked who he would like to defend the ROH World Title against should he win the belt.

"I'm thinking about hype, what match would get a lot of hype? I'm thinking about that forbidden door and because of his history in IMPACT Wrestling and Ring of Honor and the Ring of Honor World Championship, I would say bring Jay lethal over and let us have a one-on-one match for the Ring of Honor Championship in IMPACT Wrestling. We both have history in IMPACT and Ring of Honor," he said.

Sabin earned his ROH World Title match that never happened in 2018 following a draw with then ROH World Champion Jay Lethal.

Gresham defeated Lethal to win the ROH World Title at ROH Final Battle.
