Christian Confirms E&C Podcast Ended Due To Edge's Return, Beth Phoenix Working NXT

Edge & Christian had one of the more popular wrestling podcasts over the last few years, bring fans the Edge & Christian Pod of Awesomeness weekly. The podcast featured interviews with guests from around the world of wrestling along with the duo telling stories of their own.

But as rumors swirled last year of Edge's in-ring return, the podcast went on hiatus, leading more fuel to the fire that Edge would be back.

“That was part of it," Christian told Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling. "The other part of it was that Beth [Phoenix] was doing commentary with NXT. She was traveling quite a bit more and as weird as it sounds, to kind of put aside… sometimes it’d be an hour, sometimes it’d be two hours, sometimes it’d be two-and-a-half hours but as weird as it sounds, sometimes on a week it’s hard, especially when you have kids, it’s hard to set that aside when you — like I said, when Beth was traveling and it made it hard for him when he was kind of doing the solo dive thing, it made it hard for him to dedicate that time and also that he was now training and I knew that. But, we had a lot of fun doing it and it was hard to step away from it but we’ll see. We got a couple of things going on in the pipeline here so we’ll see what happens when everything kind of clears up.”

Edge officially return to the ring at WWE Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant in the men's Royal Rumble match.

While Edge & Christian made for good podcast partners, they made for better in-ring partners as one of the best and most charismatic teams of all-time. So, how would they stack up against the teams of today?

“I think we were one of those teams who could kind of adapt to any style so I think that you think about any of the teams that are big right now. You could talk dream matches. We’re both good friends with The Revival so you think about that or I know a lot of people would like to see Edge and Christian against The Young Bucks or they would’ve loved to see — but for me, if we’re talking WWE, you gotta say The Usos. We never got a chance to wrestle The Usos which would’ve been amazing. Edge and Christian versus The New Day, if you think about the backstage or the promo segments. So you think about that. It’s really cool to see a little resurgence in the tag team division too because obviously that holds a special place in our hearts for kinda putting us on the map. So, off the top of my head, those would probably be the two that stand out — The Usos and The New Day. I think we could do some really cool stuff with those guys," he said.

Christian can currently be seen as a special guest on WWE Backstage. He also stars in the new film The Cagefighter: Worlds Collide, which premieres May 16 on FITE.
