In his role, Daniels is responsible for fielding inquiries about potential talent in AEW and informing the creative time of these opportunities.

In a new interview with Talk Is Jericho, Daniels explained this portion of his role.

“I get a lot of music videos and resumes, ‘Hey, I feel like I’m the right thing for AEW.’ I’m like, ‘Okay.’ I send it along to everyone in the creative team like, ‘Hey, this gentleman sent his stuff in, what do you guys think? Are you interested in pursuing this or whatever?’ I think people think I’m the decision maker in that respect but I’m absolutely not. In the end, Tony is the decision maker. Tony sees something, ‘Oh, I really want that guy, let’s get him, sign him right now.’ I try to be, ‘Hey, thank you for sending this in, I’ll let my creative team know. If there’s an opportunity, I’ll reach out.’ That’s really the most I can do for anybody for sends that stuff in.”

Daniels was then asked if one of those inquiries has ever led to someone becoming a major performer for AEW.

“Nothing to mind. Yeah, nothing springs to mind. The people that have come in the past couple of years have been people that have been recommended by other talents I think. I think the days of walking off the street and throwing a resume down and us going, ‘Oh wow, you’re exactly what we’re looking for’, I think that sort of day is done just because the way internet is and the way YouTube is and the way social media is. I think if someone has something Tony would be interested in, he’s already finding out about it by looking at Twitter and hearing the buzz, ‘Oh you know, this person’s great or this person’s great or this person’s available or this person’s leaving New Japan or AAA or whatever.’ Tony is finding out about that sort of stuff and being like, ‘Hey, can we ask if this guy is available? Does anyone know this person, let’s reach out to him and see what his situation is.’ Yeah, I don’t feel like there’s any more of that coming in off the street.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Daniels explained why he still wants to perform on AEW television. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
