CM Punk Becomes New WWE World Heavyweight Champion At Saturday Night’s Main Event

A new World Champion is crowned.

Closing out WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Salt Lake City, Utah, was a singles match between CM Punk and Jey Uso for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The title was vacated after the former champion, Seth Rollins, had to step away due to a shoulder injury. Rollins stated that he’ll be out of action for six months.

The conclusion of the bout saw Punk hit a GTS on Jey to win the title. It was at SummerSlam that Punk defeated GUNTHER to become World Heavyweight Champion, but he was cashed in on by Seth Rollins.

Punk is now a seven-time WWE World Champion.
