CM Punk returned at the house made famous by Michael Jordan and made his return official by channeling Michael Jordan.
After his return on AEW Rampage First Dance, Punk took to social media to post the following statement:
CHICAGO, IL (August 20, 2021) - The following statement was released today by CM Punk, through AEW President and GM Tony Khan of All Elite Wrestling in response to questions about his future career plans:
"I'm back"
Michael Jordan famously issued the same "I'm back" statement when he returned to the NBA in March 1995 after retiring following the 1993 season following his third straight NBA Championship.
Jordan would return to win three more NBA Titles before retiring again after the 1998 season.
In this instance, Punk's stint on WWE Backstage would be the equivalent of Jordan going to play baseball.
