CM Punk Defeats Bron Breakker To Retain World Heavyweight Title On WWE Raw

CM Punk keeps his title.
After weeks of anticipation and build, CM Punk and Bron Breakker finally collided on the January 5 episode of WWE Raw. This was a huge test for the ‘Best In The World’, as it was his first defense of the World Heavyweight Championship since winning the belt back in November.
Near the end of the contest, Paul Heyman jumped on the apron to prevent Punk from hitting Breakker with a Go To Sleep. Then, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory hit the ring to cause chaos. The referee got caught up and tumbled to the outside. Theory entered the ring and nailed Punk with a stomp. Reed tossed the referee back in the ring, but Breakker’s pin attempt was unsuccessful.
The trio of Penta, Dragon Lee, and Rey Mysterio emerged from the crowd to fight off The Vision. Things continued in the ring as Punk scored a near fall after taking out Breakker with a Go To Sleep. Punk even pulled out a piledriver on Breakker.
Eventually, Breakker was able to recover and lock in an armbar on Punk, who reversed it into his signature Anaconda Vice submission. Just a few moments later, Punk even had Breakker tapped in the STF submission, but the ‘Badass’ refused to give up.
Paul Heyman ended up returning to the apron in an attempt to distract Punk. He ended up on the floor after taking a shot to the dome from the ‘Second City Saint’. Breakker also fell to the outside of the ring after trying to spear Punk. This allowed Punk to attempt a suicide dive, which Breakker stopped with a strike to the head.
As he attempted to recover against the announce table, Punk was then met with Breakker coming off the top turnbuckle for a huge move. Breakker basically had the gold in his hands at that point, as he tossed Punk back in the ring and set up for a spear.
Instead, Punk intercepted Breakker’s spear attempt with a knee to the skull. To retain his title, Punk once again hit Breakker with his signature Go To Sleep maneuver.
