CM Punk: “New York’s Going Through A Great Transition Right Now, They Elected A Fantastic Mayor”

Punk describes Mamdani as ‘fantastic.’

Guest appearing on WGN was the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. The conclusion of the 11/17 Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City was brought up.

There was a brawl between the men’s Survivor Series: WarGames teams, and there was involvement from the  NYPD. Some of the ‘officers’ on hand got caught up in the brawl and were taken out.

The WGN news anchor asked Punk if he was going to be arrested as a result, and Punk went on to heap praise on NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, and joked that punishment for his actions on Raw will be pushed back as New York is going through its Mayoral transition.

“New York’s going through a great transition right now. They elected a fantastic Mayor, so in January, he’s gonna take over. So, I think my stay of execution will be pushed back. I’ll be OK. I’ll be OK.”

The 2025 men’s WarGames match will see Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) clash with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar.
