CM Punk On What He Learned From Paul Heyman: Don’t Take Shit From Anybody

CM Punk worked closely with Paul Heyman for years, and one of the main takeaways wasn’t just a lesson learned but a mindset that was reinforced.

CM Punk and Paul Heyman first connected when Punk joined WWE and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Punk had just enough self-assurance and bitterness to click with the also self-assured, then-very prone to anger, Heyman. Their relationship would come to television in 2012, and while they’ve had their on-screen ebbs and flows, Punk doesn’t deny that Paul Heyman is one of the top influences in his life and a wrestling genius.

In a recent GQ YouTube video, Punk answered a fan question asking what he learned from the mastermind of ECW. Punk kept his answer short and sweet and said that Paul Heyman reinforced his mindset of not taking shit from anyone.

“Paul, I don’t know if he taught me, but he more reinforced, don’t take any shit from anybody.

CM Punk, both on and off camera, still maintains that same mentality. Only after the events of WrestleMania 41 does he find himself once again on the opposite side of the fence from Paul Heyman, who turned on CM Punk to align with Seth Rollins.

Speaking of Punk not taking shit from people, he recently shut down somebody who asked about when he would retire. Read those comments here.
