CM Punk Responds To Criticism Of His WrestleMania Main Event Being On Night One

CM Punk slams the critics.

In 2025, CM Punk accomplished his lifelong goal and headlined night one of WrestleMania 42. There were a handful of detractors that tried to diminish Punk’s achievement, saying that it didn’t count because it didn’t take place on the second night of the show.

Speaking with GQ Sports for a new interview, Punk admitted that he’d like to headline the second night of Mania before dismissing the criticism surrounding his recent main event.

“I mean, just because it’s there, probably a Night 2 main event. Honestly, I don’t differentiate between the two nights. I think that’s just a way for people who are sad about their own lives to try to diminish something. I mean, Rock did a Night 1. Stone Cold Steve Austin did a Night 1. Who am I to say it’s not a main event? That’s just silly semantics to try to hate on somebody that you don’t like for whatever reason.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Punk gave his opinion on his current character in WWE. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
