CM Punk Shares John Cena’s Best Advice To Him Was, ‘Stick To Your Guns, Stay True To Yourself’
CM Punk will go down as one of John Cena’s greatest rivals as the two created many memorable moments, most notably at WWE Money in the Bank 2011.
CM Punk and Cena first met in singles competition in 2009 on an episode of Raw, and would go on to headline multiple shows and pay-per-views as they battled over the WWE Championship. The last clashed at WWE Night of Champions 2025 as part of Cena’s retirement tour, headlining one last match for the WWE Title.
Speaking to WWE, Punk shared the best advice he received from Cena.
“I feel like John has probably given me advice. I’m not the guy that really listens to people, though. Stick to your guns, be yourself, stay true to yourself,” he said.
Cena competed in his retirement match on December 13th against Gunther.
