The promotion has a show today at the 'HUB Sports Center' in Washington and the co-owners of 'DEFY' Jim Perry and Matt Farmer spoke with 'The Spokesman-Review' to promote the forthcoming event. Matt Farmer touched on the surge of independent wrestling and how it has come to the forefront and also weighed in on WWE's presentation of professional wrestling.

"Right now, especially in the United States, there’s a huge resurgence of independent pro wrestling,” Farmer said. “It’s more of an open field now, where all of these companies are trading talent. The WWE, they present this cartoonish, corporate professional wrestling product,” Farmer said. “At Defy wrestling … it’s like alternative rock to pop rock.”

There were three wrestlers in particular who were mentioned in the interview that both Farmer and Perry spoke highly of; those being Brian Cage, Matt Riddle, and Washington's own Flip Gordon. The two co-owners shared their thoughts on the three aforementioned wrestlers:

Brian Cage: “He is an animal,” Perry said. “When you think of what a pro wrestler is, he’s the archetype.”

Matt Riddle: "Like Brock Lesnar or Ronda Rousey, (Riddle) jumped into professional wrestling,” Farmer said. “He’s turned into one of the best, fastest rising stars. It was important to us to bring some of the best to Spokane,” Perry said. “And those three … they really are some of the best in the world."

Flip Gordon: “One week a month, he’s in the Army,” Farmer said. “The rest of the month he’s out there wrestling around the world.”

Matt Riddle will be in action for the 'DEFY Wrestling Spring Tour 18' show in Liberty Lake tonight. For more information regarding the event head over to 'DEFYWrestling.com'.
