Cody On "AEW" Chants At HIAC: I Wouldn't Gloat Because I Know One Guy Got Concussed In The Match

Cody Rhodes claims someone suffered a concussion in Hell in a Cell main event.

WWE Hell in a Cell ended with the crowd chanting "AEW" in response to the "match stoppage" finish in the Hell in a Cell main event between Seth Rollins and 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt. After the event, AEW Champion Chris Jericho began retweeting comments praising AEW and turning against WWE. Meanwhile, Matt Jackson plugged Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite.

Speaking on the Joe Cronin Show, Cody weighed in on the chants.

"When those come up, I wasn't watching the pay-per-view, but when those come up, your phone and social starts blowing up. Whenever the crowd chants something, it means they want to be rewarded with something. That's just wrestling 101. And we know, we want to reward them. It was flattering. I wouldn't be one to gloat about it only because I know that one of the guys in that match got concussed and this job ain't that easy. But whenever we hear those chants, it's more validation that what we're doing and saying about this market existing is real," he said.

It was reported after WWE Hell in a Cell that Wyatt was not medically cleared for competition. A specific injury was not reported. Neither Rollins nor Wyatt were on Monday's Raw, though Wyatt did attack Cesaro in a dark match angle.
