Cody Reflects On The Five-Year Anniversary Of Dusty Rhodes’ Passing

Cody finds comfort in his father's big shadow.

It's been five years since we lost the legendary “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. In the time since, both of his sons, Dustin and Cody have gone on to help shape all elite wrestling, Cody in particular has had a major hand in the promotion as he has become an executive with the startup much like his dad was an executive of Jim Crockett Promotions.

Cody took to Twitter to try and articulate his feelings on this solemn anniversary. in the Tweet, Cody would admit that while he wants to one day get out of the shadow of Dusty Rhodes, being Dusty's son is something that Cody wears with pride and finds comfort in the warmth of the large shadow of Dusty Rhodes.

Cody has never shied away from his fondness for his father's heyday. At All Out in 2018, Cody Rhodes won the NWA World Championship, a title that his father held with such pride back in the 70s and 80s. Cody has also fought hard in the courtroom to regain some of Dusty Rhodes' intellectual property from WWE in the years since his passing.
