Cody Rhodes: I Just Want One Bodybuilder Type Back In The Mix, We Don’t Have Those Anymore

Cody Rhodes wants to bring back the bodybuilder type.
Wrestling history has often favored men who look more like bodybuilders than normal athletes. In the 80s and 90s, guys like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, and Lex Luger were always in prominent positions, if not at the very top of the card, because of their muscular physiques.
Nowadays, wrestlers are in shape, but the muscles on top of muscles on top of muscles look has gone by the wayside. Cody Rhodes is looking to bring that back.
“I’m almost looking for us to get some jacked up bodybuilder dudes again,” Cody said on his What Do You Want To Talk About? podcast. “Real 90s (guys). Ones that all the boys can’t stand. Just somebody like, ‘Look at the look,’ and then we all have to figure out how to do it. I would say it’s missing. The old just legit bodybuilder type. ‘He looks great.’ I heard this term the other day, somebody was describing how, at WWE, you may not be in shape, but everyone who is in shape has an ‘athletic build.’ I hate the term ‘athletic build.’ I know it’s not going to happen, but I just want one bodybuilder back in the mix. Just one full blooded (bodybuilder). You look at him, ‘Brother is going to tear his triceps just getting in the ring.’ We don’t have those anymore. The bodybuilders are dinosaurs. They went away.”
Your move, Triple H.
Rhodes is set to challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Friday’s WWE SmackDown.
