Cody Rhodes: I Might As Well Move To Commentary If I Don't Finish The Story, I'll Lose The Fans' Faith

Cody Rhodes has to do it for the people.

In 2023, fans rallied around Cody Rhodes and hoped to see him finish the story by dethroning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but Reigns defeated Cody. One year later, Rhodes will challenge for the gold again at WrestleMania 40.

Speaking on First Take, Cody Rhodes was asked whether fans could expect to see him finish the story.

“Well, if I don’t finish the story, I might as well move over to commentary at that point. I might as well hit the booth," Rhodes said.

Stephen A. Smith. then noted that commentary would not be a bad thing, as it was a lot of money. Rhodes responded that while that may be true, he would lose the fans' faith with another loss.

“No, it’s a lot of money. But there’s a thing in our world, the good guy, you’ll hear him referred to as the babyface, right. It’s hard enough to be a good guy in 2024, and they’ve rode with me, these fans, they’ve been supportive. They created the ‘We want Cody’ movement, the whole thing. So if I lost again, I feel like you lose their faith. More than anything, even if I didn’t believe, WrestleMania 40, that I was leaving Undisputed WWE Champion, if I didn’t believe, they believe. So I gotta do it for them, and I believe," Rhodes said.
