Cody Rhodes To Sami Zayn: I Am Sorry I Have The WWE Championship And That Means You Never Will

Last week, Sami Zayn saved Cody Rhodes from Gunther. Later, he got hurt by Rhodes when the latter was trying to hit Gunther.

On the latest edition of WWE SmackDown (6/12), Cody and Sami were in the ring for a segment. Sami mentioned that he was the first person who came to see Cody after he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

“I was the first guy in the ring when you finished your story. Before Kevin Owens, LA Knight, CM Punk, and John Cena, I was there first. I was happy for you then, and I’m still happy for you now. You know why? Because I’m a good guy. But let me ask you this: out of all the people I just named, how many are still your friends? So is the problem them… or is the problem you?”

Sami wanted Cody to be honest with him. Cody said that the fans are booing Sami, and as long as he holds the WWE Title, Sami won’t get to have it.

“Here’s me being honest with you. They are booing you, they are chanting ‘Sami sucks,’ and the reason is lately, you do suck. You’re whining. You’re crying. You’re not the Sami Zayn they fell in love with, not the Sami Zayn they took a ride with. You’re not my Sami Zayn, you’re something else. If anything, you are desperate. Let’s not pretend it’s about anything between you and I other than the WWE Championship, and I owe you an apology. I am sorry I have this and that means you never will.”

In the heat of the moment, Sami ended up slapping Rhodes. He apologized for it, but Cody slapped him back.

Sami left the ring to pick up a steel chair to attack Cody, but he just stood on the ring apron and went backstage eventually.
