Cody Rhodes Wants To Be A Traveling Champion

Cody Rhodes hopes to continue to bring prestige back to the NWA World Heavyweight Title.

In an interview with Jim Ross on The Ross Report, Cody noted that he wants to be a champion in the same vein as his father and other greats before him.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

"I want to continue the path of the traveling champion. That's what I grew up and the type of wrestling I liked. Even though it's a generation prior to me. I go back to what (Ric) Flair was able to do. What Jack Briscoe was able to do. Their date book alone," said Cody "And not just, 'Oh, I did it.' I did it and it was the best thing of the night. I did with consistency.

"I don't really believe in the politics of wrestling anymore. I understand if this isn't your companies title. But if you ask me to come wrestle for your company, I'm wearing the damn title."

Cody defeated Nick Aldis at All In to win the NWA World Heavyweight title. He is set to defend the belt in a rematch against Aldis at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show on Oct. 21. But before he gets there, he'll face Willie Mack at the Sept. 29 ROH TV tapings for the title.
