Colby Covington Wants To Crossover To WWE And Become A Two-Sport World Champion

Colby Covington is ready to meet with Vince McMahon.

This past Saturday at UFC Newark, Colby Covington picked up a dominating decision victory over Robbie Lawler, earning himself a UFC Welterweight Title fight against Kamaru Usman. Covington, known for his out of cage antics, immediately put on a show for the Newark crowd, walking out to Kurt Angle's WWE theme, eliciting "You Suck" chants from New Jersey faithful.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Covington discussed his walkout song and his goal of making it to WWE.

"That was the greatest walkout in the history of this sport, second to none. The energy, the electricity going through the arena was just amazing. I have to give a big shout out to Kurt Angle for giving me the blessing to be able to use that song. [That] was so generous of him. I'm very thankful to him. Also, Bobby Lashley for asking Kurt Angle if I could have the blessing to use his song. Big thank you to those guys. Vince McMahon, I'm gonna see you soon. I'm getting that WWE belt and have this UFC belt. I'm gonna be a two sport World Champion."

When asked if he's talked to Dana White and the UFC about appearing on WWE television, Covington said, "We haven't had that sitdown talk, but I think they're gonna realize that it's gonna be good for business to be able to crossover. Brock Lesnar did it, so why can't I?"

Covington has made appearances on IMPACT Wrestling in 2017 and showed up at a WrestlePro event in 2018. The former Interim Welterweight Champion trains at American Top Team, which is where Lashley did his training during his time as an MMA fighter.
