Conrad Thompson reveals plans for the "Dead Man Talking" trademark.
On Feb. 14, Starrcast LLC applied for the trademark "Dead Man Talking." Following the news, many fans online speculated that Conrad Thompson would be starting a podcast with The Undertaker, who had been announced to appear at Starrcast II in May.
Appearing on the Mat Men Podcast, Thompson set the record straight on Undertaker's Starrcast appearance and plans for "Dead Man Talking."
"When we first started talking about having Undertaker at Starrcast, we were kicking around 'what can we do?' I thought, 'it'd be awesome if we could do a meet-and-greet and a stage show.' (His management) agreed, but they had a lot of conditions. They wanted to know who the host is. I said, 'what about Bruce (Prichard)?' Bruce was approved. Then the wrinkle came, 'you can't film it or air it.' Part of my strategy was to put Starrcast on FITE. So that put the kibosh on that and there is no Undertaker stage show," said Thompson.
"(Bruce) said, 'It'd be cool if we could do a speaking tour with me and Undertaker.' We loved the idea and we liked the name Dead Man Talking. Nobody owned it, so I trademarked it. When it got made public, everybody assumed, 'Conrad is doing a podcast with Undertaker.' I've never had a conversation with Undertaker about doing a podcast."
Conrad ended the conversation by confirming, "The tour isn't happening because Bruce is back full-time and he doesn't have time to do live shows" while also stating that The Undertaker is under WWE contract.
Of course, Undertaker's contract with WWE doesn't preclude him from doing promotional appearances such as speaking tours. He is scheduled to join the Inside The Ropes crew for a three-night event beginning later this month.
