Conrad Thompson Says The Golden Era Of Wrestling Podcasts Is Over

WWE announced that they are officially heading into the podcast medium through a new partnership with Endeavor audio. Endeavor is currently the podcast platform that the Bella Twins use and WWE is looking to expand on their relationship by creating new podcasts for an industry that has shown a love for the medium.

One man who knows all about pro wrestling podcasts is Conrad Thompson. The father of the Starrcast convention, Conrad currently has four active podcasts, all of which feature legendary talents that have been signed to either WWE or AEW since starting their podcast with Conrad.

While speaking to Matt Koon on the Total Engagement podcast, Conrad discussed his lack of surprise to WWE's announcement, but also revealed that he feels the boom period for podcasts in wrestling is over "You know, the golden era of, 'hey, you're going to print money doing a wrestling podcast,' that's not reality," he stated. "The ones who have survived are the ones who are doing it either for the love of the game or are doing really, really big numbers. And there's really nowhere in between."

Conrad also said that he fully expects WWE to start doing live podcasting during WrestleMania Axxess, and in the spirit of competition, Conrad is looking forward to giving WWE’s podcast numbers a run for their money, "I'm excited that [WWE is] getting in [the podcast realm], and it's going to be an interesting time in the podcast game. And most of all, I'm looking forward to beating all of their shows. So that'll be good."

For now, Conrad's main focus is on next week's Starrcast convention, which will run from Thursday through Sunday and feature stage shows from CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and more.
