- Jimmy Uso informed Roman Reigns that his brother Jey was not going to be at the show. He then said that he could step in and fulfill his brothers' duties. Roman, skeptical, told Jimmy to prove it by winning a match later on in the night.

- Seth Rollins and Bayley defeated Bianca Belair and Cesaro in mixed-tag team action on SmackDown. Belair looked set to put Bayley away with the K.O.D., but Rollins rolling into the ring threw off her timing. This distraction allowed Bayley to hit her Rose Plant finisher for the win.

WWE's Role Model spoke about her victory backstage.

- After defeating Baron Corbin last week to officially win the crown, a coronation was held for Shinsuke Nakamura. Many even danced to Rick Boogs' guitar playing, including Pat McAfee, Sonya Deville, and Adam Pearce. A dejected Corbin was seen backstage talking about how he has lost all of his investments since losing the crown.

- Seth Rollins let Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce know that he believes he should be next in line to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. The WWE Officials said that they would consider it.

- Big E defeated Apollo Crews to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match on July 18th. He joins a field of competitors that currently includes Ricochet, John Morrison, and Riddle,

- On the July 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn will face Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing Match. The winner will earn a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

- Sonya Deville came out and announced Carmella as the first SmackDown entrant in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. She was then interrupted by Liv Morgan who argued that she should also be in the match. Sonya then booked a match between the two Superstars, which Morgan won. It is currently unclear whether Liv has earned a spot in the match or not.

- Jimmy Uso defeated Dolph Ziggler in the main event of SmackDown. After the match, he was set to accompany Roman Reigns to the ring for his State of the Universal Championship Address but was told to hang back and give Roman some space.

- Edge returned to SmackDown tonight, interrupting Roman Reigns' State of the Universal Championship Address. After spearing The Tribal Chief he set up for the Con-Chair-To but was stopped by Jimmy Uso. This gave Roman time to flee, but Edge looked into the camera and told him, "You want me?! I'm right here!!!"
