On June 29, NBC 26 reported Jake's Network of Hope, a nonprofit based in Neenah, Wisconsin, has accused Jacob Fatu of not returning money after he pulled out of their fundraiser event and then ghosting the organization. Fatu was booked for their Hits For Hope event.

Fatu did not return comments to the outlet.

MLW Owner Court Bauer joined Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In The Weeds and commented on the situation.

"We're watching it very carefully and we take it very seriously. Fatu books himself on third-party shows, we have no involvement with that, but it is something we've had meetings on and we're watching carefully and we're continuing to monitor it and learn more about it," he said. "We work with charities, privately, not for 'oh, isn't that great he does that.' A lot of us probably work with charities, so when you see something like that, how does it make you feel? It's something we genuinely watch."

Fatu is still scheduled to compete at MLW Never Say Never on July 8 against Calvin Tankman.
