Speaking to Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, MLW Owner Court Bauer said talks with King began during WrestleMania 38 weekend in Dallas. He told Kane in April 2022 that King was on board, but "schedules and other circumstances delayed King from actually shooting something for MLW for about a year."

Bauer said moving forward, all options are on the table for King and his involvement with MLW. King will not have a weekly presence, but there are plans for him to be a reoccurring character.

“The goal, of course, is to have him there [in person], but having his presence with pretapes with Alex [Kane] those kinds of things. We will always find a way to do it," said Bauer.

Kane won the MLW World Heavyweight Title from Alex Hammerstone in the main event of MLW Never Say Never.
