Crazzy Steve talks about connecting with fans despite being legally blind.
Steve is a professional wrestler who has competed for many promotions across the wrestling world but is most known for his multiple runs in TNA. For fans unaware, Steve is also legally blind, which leaves him with a hill to climb to connect with fans.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo in a new interview, Crazzy Steve was asked about connecting with fans and getting his character’s point across.
“That’s a good question, because the reality is I can’t see the people. Anybody who’s followed my story knows that I’m actually legally blind, and so when I make an entrance, especially if you’re looking at it from a point of Decay, it’s dark. They blow a bunch of smoke in my face. So I literally cannot see anything when I’m walking out there. So it’s just a feeling that I naturally admit from myself. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but creepiness kind of comes easy for me. The longer you talk to me, you’ll see. So just putting that out there and then hearing the response, and it’s a feeling you get, too, from those people. That’s what just kind of drives you. It’s the fuel. I don’t know how else to really describe it because, again, I can’t see them. It comes from a feeling of the energy they’re giving me is what I’m trying to put out back to them. So it’s a beautiful give-and-take relationship, and again, it’s just something that naturally comes easy to me. There’s a lot of people who are jerks in real life, or there’s a lot of people who are just funny in real life. For me, creepy seems to be my go-to.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Steve spoke about his return to TNA programming last Thursday. You can read more about that here.
