D-Von Dudley Is Happy To End His Career On His Terms At TNA Bound For Glory

D-Von Dudley is ready to go out on his terms when The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz clash one final time in a Tables Match for the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships at TNA Bound For Glory.

Nearly 26 years since they had the first Tag Team Tables Match at WWE Royal Rumble 2000, The Hardy Boyz will meet The Dudley Boyz in one final match, and this match will also be the final match of D-Von Dudley’s wrestling career. Both teams recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of the Boston Herald to preview the match and discuss the amount of emotion that will factor into the event on October 12 in Massachusetts.

D-Von Dudley explained that he only retired in 2016 because Vince McMahon wanted him to become a WWE producer. As such, he is excited to go out on his terms.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to go out there and wrestle for one last time,” said D-Von. “Vince McMahon wanted me to retire and be a producer in WWE, which is why I originally retired [in 2016]. I’m healthy, I’m ready, and this is my chance to finally go out on my terms.”

Bubba Ray Dudley spoke up against critics who believe this match shouldn’t be happening, saying that it’s not about unprotected chair shots to the head or dangerous spots like in 2000. Instead, it’s about creating one final memory for fans.

“For those who don’t think this is a good idea, they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about,” said Bubba. “This is about the two most decorated and iconic tag teams of all time going out there one last time. People still talk about our match at Madison Square Garden from 25 years ago. We’re going to create a new memory in our final table match.”

“We’re not going to reinvent the wheel here,” added D-Von. “We already did that. But we know how to create something legendary, and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Jeff Hardy remarked on how surprising it was that they are all still participating in these extreme spots as they enter the sunset years of their careers. However, he also says they owe it to the wrestling fans to provide them with an extreme showcase one final time.

“It was madness back then,” said Jeff Hardy. “Now we’re near the end of our careers, but we’re still out here going through tables and jumping off ladders, which is insane. This match in Lowell is going to be extreme – it has to be. We owe that to the fans.”
