D-Von Dudley Reflects On Road Warriors’ Legacy And Missed Dream Match: They Have To Be Number One

D-Von Dudley reflects on the Road Warriors' impact on his career, once believing that he and Bubba Ray Dudley might have been able to face Hawk and Animal in 2003.

Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal are among the greatest tag teams ever. Before the Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, they were the most decorated tag team ever. In his latest YouTube video, D-Von Dudley recently spoke about his personal tag team Mount Rushmore. The first team that made the cut was Hawk and Animal.

Not only did Dudley talk about the impact they had on his fandom, but he also spoke about the time that the Road Warriors, also known as the Legion of Doom, returned to WWE for one match in 2003 and his belief that the Dudley Boyz could have gotten the opportunity to wrestle the LOD had Road Warrior Hawk not tragically passed away shortly after the team returned to WWE.

"The Road Warriors, LOD, Animal and Hawk, as far as I'm concerned, that tag team was a box office draw anywhere they went," he said. "They were hard-hitting, and when their music hit, you knew business was about to pick up. You also knew that somebody was going to get hurt, and that they did. We met them in the WWE when they made their third return, and they faced RVD and Kane. Me and Bubba were excited because we thought we were finally going to get the opportunity to get in the ring with the legendary Road Warriors.

"Unfortunately, that didn't happen because about a month or two months later, Hawk passed away, and we never got the opportunity to get in that ring. I never got the opportunity to get on Animal's shoulders and have Hawk come flying at me with a clothesline off the top of animals shoulders and get pinned, 1-2-3, because I know Bubba's ass wasn't getting up on Animal shoulders. Therefore, it probably would have to be me. The Road Warriors, in my opinion, have to be number one on that list."
