D-Von Dudley Reflects On WWE Video Game Debut, 'That’s When I Knew I Had Arrived'

D-Von Dudley reflects on how much it meant to him to be in a WWE video game.

In 2000, D-Von Dudley and Bubba Ray Dudley made their debut in WWE video games. They were in three of them that year, but they made their debut with the inaugural "WWF SmackDown!" release on the Sony PlayStation. Later that year, they appeared in a commercial for the legendary "WWF No Mercy" video game on the Nintendo 64.

In his latest YouTube video, D-Von Dudley revealed that being involved in WWE video games was one of the first times he felt he truly arrived in the wrestling business.

"The video game is a huge, huge number that you can get a large merchandise check from," he said. "Think about all the video games that are being sold out there, and now, all of a sudden, you get a percentage of that. I gotta tell you, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was something that I, still to this day, can't believe sometimes. A little kid from Brooklyn, New York, is now on a video game. For me, it was such a huge deal. I remember just celebrating with my family at the time, how me and Bubba were just on top of the world."

"It was the first time that anything that I had ever done in the wrestling business meant so much to me, because I had did all the blood, sweat and tears leading up to me getting on that video game, and I had finally arrived and to be in a video game with The Rock, Triple H, Mankind, Mick Foley, the Big Show," he added. "The list goes on and on. I was so happy about that that I can honestly say that was when I truly knew that I had arrived. So even to this day, I am still in video games. I'm still very active in merchandise that the WWE puts out."

Speaking of D-Von Dudley's merchandise checks from present day, he broke down the positives of being on a WWE legends deal elsewhere in the video. Read those comments here.
