Dakota Kai On Her Recovery Ahead Of In-Ring Return: We're So Close

Dakota Kai says she is getting closer to her in-ring return.

Kai suffered a torn ACL in May 2023, and she has been sidelined ever since. Despite the injury, she has continued to appear on WWE programming alongside her stablemates in Damage CTRL (Bayley, IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, and Asuka). Earlier in January, Kai stated that rehab was going great, but she did not know when she would get cleared.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Dakota Kai noted that she was wearing heels for the first time since her injury. Salcedo noted that this meant she was one step closer to returning to the ring.

“Yeah, one step. We’re so close. We’re so close, you guys," Kai said.

Later in the interview, Kai was asked to name her goals for 2024. She emphasized that she wanted to return to the ring, mix it up with other superstars, and aim high once she was back in action.

“The goal for me, honestly I’m just excited to get back in the ring. I loved watching the Rumble, and obviously Bayley winning, I can’t even explain the emotions. I was so overwhelmed with happiness. I want to get back in the ring so bad. Just watching them all fun, I’m like, ‘Oh god.’ But we’re so close, so I just want to get back into the mix of things physically as a wrestler and just aim high," Kai said.

As of this writing, it is not known when Dakota Kai will return to the ring. Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.
